108 Sock it to me part one

Hello friends!

I've finished a pair of socks!

I struggle at the moment to sit still and focus on one thing, as I'm sure the rest of you can understand.  Life's complicated.  We are having Big Discussions with the children about returning to school.  Both are desperate to go back, and with South Australia having so very few cases now and the borders still being closed, they (rightly I know) assume they'll be good to go back sooner rather than later.

And the teenager is constantly telling me that all her friends are going back to school.....when I ask 'all of them??' she says allllllll of them....... so I am the horrible mother keeping her from her schooling.  When I was her age this would have been the best thing ever, staying away from school. My children are hating being at home.

So we wait for someone, a grown up, to tell us what to do.

Meantime, I've been flitting from one project to the next, and I finished some some socks!

Couldn't tell you the brand, I threw the ballband away.  I think (though who would know?) that it's a Regia brand.

I love sock knitting.  But like so many of the hand crafts I do, it makes my hands hurt.

How are you going?  It's the weekend tomorrow.  Yay.  I shall do the same things I've done all week!

Talk soon!

107 Mystery Quilt Update

Hi lovely readers.

Amazing how quickly one day seems to turn into another and yet how slowwwww the hours are.

I stitched again today and apart from pressing, am up to date with my units for the mystery quilt.

I've no idea where it's going, but so far so good.  I've given up on mystery quilts as a rule as I don't love the end product more often than not.  But times are strange right now and I'm very grateful that people are caring enough to share a design with us.  So we'll see what this brings.  I don't hate it, so that's a good thing!

Hope you've had an excellent day.

106 Mystery Quilt Step Four

Spent my afternoon sewing!!  I know, I know!

And you'll be pleased to hear that after twenty (thirty?) years of quilting, I've finally managed to stitch a perfect 1/4 inch.

My blocks barely needed trimming.  I'm very pleased with myself.

It turns out I was moving my needle four clicks to the right, and lining the fabric up with the foot.

Well, if I move it five clicks to the right, it's perfect!  I've also stopped using steam in my pressing and it's such a difference, I can't tell you.

So there, that's one positive from my coronavirus staycation.

Have a lovely day!

105 Coronavirus Finish No. 2

Another UFO bit the dust yesterday.  And in good time, because my hands are quite sore now.  I must pace myself, all this spare time doesn't mean my hands will cope with crocheting all day long.

Love the feet.

It's made entirely from leftovers and a bit more black that I had to buy.  But it's done.  And it's the right size to put over my lap as we down under move into winter.

They're saying June for the earliest opening up.  But that's when we move into winter, so who knows?

Gonna be a long year.

104 Christmas Panel Show And Tell

It's not Christmas, obviously.  But here is a lovely Christmas panel to show you, because I have done absolutely no sewing at all today.  Not a stitch.  But I have done my floors, which is massive.

We head back to 'routine' tomorrow, at least for my husband.  The girls are officially on school holidays, God help me.

I can see their brains turning to mush.  Seriously.

Have a lovely day.

103 What I've Been Working On

So I was one of those people who was going to be so superduper productive in my isolation.

Obviously that's not happened, I don't know if it's just me but I have no energy at all.  Not even the usual amount to get me through the usual day.  It's all I can do to make the bed in the morning.  I think I'm getting soft.

I have been UFO'ing (kinda).  I have been crocheting my little bottom off, putting a border on this blanket.

This is the view I have from my crocheting seat.

There are worse places to spend a day.

102 - Lucy Boston Update

My lordy it's hard to find something to write about when each day is Literally The Same Day.

So here.  Have a look at how far I've come.

Yay me!

101 - A Finish To Show You

As promised, I've washed and blocked the rose tapestry I was working on.

My mother in law works at a local opportunity shop (thrift shop for those not in Australia) and she was given some half done tapestries.  She offered them to me and obviously I have too much free time because I said yes to them.

I wonder what their history was.  When I washed this one, the water ran so brown.  I rinsed and rinsed till it was clear and then laid it flat on a towel overnight.  I have a piano stool that is need of repair and I think when things get back to usual (normal?  Will that ever happen?) I'll use it as the top of that.

I'm plodding along today.  Again, a glorious day outside.  We are just about to head off on our nightly walk.

Hope you're well!

100 - and what a hundred days it was!

I've posted for 100 days straight.

And what a hundred days it was.

But we made it this far!  Hooray for us!

I've been stitching my tapestry today and I can now tell you I have finished!  But before I show it to you I need to wash it and block it, it's stretched beyond belief because I didn't use a frame.

So that's one UFO off the list!

It's Good Friday here tomorrow in Australia - there's a thought, is it Good Friday everywhere or just Australia?  Traditionally our region is INVADED by tourists camping by the river.  They (the Government) have spared no expense in telling people to 'Stay Away Please' - we are all crossing our fingers that common sense for the most part prevails, but I've heard many stories of people planning their annual trip regardless.  There's no cure for Stupid, unfortunately.

But I'll be staying home, doing the right thing.

Till tomorrow, my lovelies!

099 Oops almost forgot

I forgot to post!

It's a good thing it's still today because if it was tomorrow that would be bad!  That would break my streak!

I have no photos for you today but I urge you in the strongest possible terms, go outside and look at the moon!  We've just been for our daily (nightly) walk and the moon tonight is amazeballs, as the young ones say.  It's like God said 'look, I know you gotta stay home for a while but look up!'.

Things are plodding along here.  We have moved through the fear part, the adrenaline part, and now we are at the 'oh right, weeks more of this' part.  I'm trying very hard to keep the whole family 'up' when they need it.  Husband is fine, he's actually living his best life, gets me bringing all his coffees and meals to him while he works, like he's got an actual Personal Assistant.

The kids are struggling with not seeing their friends in real life.  Cyber only works so far.  But we walk each day and today we baked (badly) but we try and keep their spirits up too.

Hope your spirits are up today.
