Customer show and tell

Strictly speaking, these are not my customers.  My lovely mother does a lot of custom quilting for other people and every now and again she quilts something so lovely I have to show it off here.  To be honest, most of the quilts she does are lovely, but we often forget to photograph them.

We didn’t forget to photograph this little beauty though.

075

I don’t know the designer’s name, nor the name of the pattern.  Sorry about that.

078

If I understand correctly, this is one of the first quilts this customer has made. I think she’s done a sterling job.

079

I am particularly impressed with her choice of colours.  I think she’s been very smart at picking almost solids for the body of the animals, with the accent coming from the details.  That way it doesn’t get too overpowering.  And from a girl who’s made her share of overpowering quilts, this is really important.  The less is more rule really applies to quilting, I’ve found.

080

There is definitely one of these sort of quilts in my future.

081

It’s so convenient that I have a whole bin of bright fabrics, just waiting for a use.

082

Could you not just eat this little old lion up?

083

Mr Giraffe is very sweet too.

084

Who said rhinos were dangerous?

085

I love this little zebra to bits.  I love them all to bits.

Somehow in taking my photos I missed the elephant.

I think my mother has done an excellent job in the quilting.  After I saw how lovely she had done this one, I let her do my monster quilt.  I was going to quilt that one myself but I realised I’d never in a thousand years do as good a job as she did, so it’s quilted, bound and labelled.  All I have to do is show it to you.

Tomorrow, perhaps.

Hope you loved this little quilt as much as me!

Suzie

    2. I ordered a pattern from them in 2018 and never received it but they got my money. I tried again just recently and you don't get any info regarding shipping. Nothing again. I decided to look up reviews and others are saying the same thing. The postal service DOES deliver to Canada

  4. Thanks so much for your comments.

I've tried to find out the designer, but with no luck.

It's very similar to a range of baby related story books I've seen, so maybe her/his inspiration came from that.

    1. I made this quilt for my granddaughter. I bought the pattern from an Australian company but I loaned the pattern to someone and can't tell you the name. It was so much fun to make.

    2. Do you live in Australia?. I've ordered patterns from Craft Cubby and never got them. My mother in law would send parcels from Australia to Canada with no problem. I just don't get what the problem is

    2. Thanks for all your help I have found the web site and I have ordered the pattern along with another. I placed my order on Jan 25/16 and haven't heard from Craft Cubby to say it has been shipped or the payment was received. I thought I would hear something from them as I normally do when I make a purchase through paypal. For anyone that made a purchase can you let me know if there was any follow up or did the pattern just arrive in the mail? Thanks

  17. I have just been on the site and I was surprised out how dull they looked on the site compared to how the ones I have seen completed and displayed here. It just goes to show you how colour and pattern choice affects the look of a quilt.
