126 International Quilting Day 2019

Following on from yesterday, here are some more photos of lovely, lovely quilts.  I apologise to the poor lady whose head is in each and every photo.

That's the back of a quilt, in case it isn't clear.  That's the quilting you can see.

That's it for today!  Hope you enjoyed!

125 International Quilting Day 2019

I've been sorting through old drafts in my blog account and I found a treasure trove of pictures I forgot to show you!

International Quilting Day is a big deal here where we live.  Typically the numbers of people who attend the whole day event are only limited by the size of the venue, normally about 200/250.  It's an all day thing, we have guest speakers and show and tell and all sorts of fun things.

This year of course it was cancelled.  Poor buggers who organised it this year, it was only cancelled with a week to go - it was right at the whole 'what is this coronavirus and what will it do?' part.  It was inevitable it wasn't going to go ahead but a whole year's worth of work is put into organising it.  To have it cancelled with a week's notice is soul destroying, I imagine.

So these photos are from the Show And Tell from the year before.  Enjoy!

(mother's quilt - it won an award, she's clever)

In corona news, we've had another day of no cases in South Australia and all the signs point to a relaxing of constrictions.  I'm quietly very scared.  I don't want them to release things yet.  I wonder if we'll all feel like that.  How do you feel?

124 How I Spent My Sunday

I was having a lazy start to this morning and I said to my husband "Am I a bad person if I am missing absolutely *nothing* from my commitments list?".  All those things I do, volunteering, running around after children, etc etc.  All those things that got stopped when the virus took over - I am not missing any of them.

He didn't think I was a bad person.  I think he's enjoying the plus sides too.

I think this shut down thing has really crystalised what I want to be doing with my time.  A lot of it I have to do (running kids around, and I don't mind this as I know it'll have an end date).  A lot of it I don't have to do, and it's been hanging around my neck heavily.

So I've started to remove myself from some places that I don't need to be.  Still a lot to go, but I'm getting there.  I feel so guilty!

Today I spent time working on a large UFO that is seeming to take such a long time.  But it's getting there.

How has your day been?  Our state has now released playgrounds from lockdown.  I spent so many hours at playgrounds with my little ones, seems like an age ago.  Truth be told, I didn't love playgrounds.  But you do these things to keep them happy and when we had the shop, a daily trip to the playground before lunch and a nap (for the babies, not me!) was a constant thing.  I would have hated to have had to deprive my little ones for all that time.

So each week we are allowed a little more back.  Soon they are talking about allowing us sport.  I don't think it'll be for a few weeks though, which is fine with me because I'll then have to do the all day netball mother thing (and I enjoy that even more than I do playgrounds!).

Till tomorrow!

123 Mending

I don't like doing mending, but some jobs are just Have To ones.

Little Miss Eleven nearly Twelve would never admit to still sleeping with her bear but she does, and poor Rapunzel was in need of much TLC.

I've done repairs on this poor bear so many times, it makes my heart sing so much that Rapunzel is still important to her.

Having a good day?  It's rained all week, which is awesome but I've had the same load of washing on the line all week.  It just about gets dried, and then it rains, and then we repeat the same process over and over.  It's excellent really, the rain situation last year was dire, and now things are looking positive, for once.  Something good from 2020!

122 Appliqued borders now on!

So I worked a little bit longer today (amongst doing other, boring things) and managed to get all the borders on.

It's amazing how quickly it made it less harsh, more feminine.  I like it very much now.

And I'll add it to the hand work pile.  There's a lot on that pile, let me tell you.  But at least I've moved along.

Hope you all have a lovely day.
