Sunbonnet Sue–update

This is one quilt that will be finished in 2015.

There, I said it.  Hold me to it, won’t you?

This has been a big-step quilt.  Firstly, I had to cut out each pane of the skirt.  Then piece it, then trace all the other pieces out onto freezer paper, then turn it under and baste it, and finally baste it to the background fabric.  I know there is an easier way (probably more than one) but this way works for me.  It just takes such a long time.

But the basting onto the fabric step is almost finished. Then I have to hand stitch them down, but that part of it will be a nice, relaxed step that I can do at night in front of the television.  It will be such a relief to have this off the design wall.

Once the hand applique part of it is done, it’s a matter of stitching the rows together, handing it deftly over to my mother so she can long arm quilt it, and then back to me for binding.  I’m hopeful I can put this into our local quilt show in October.

Hold me to it, won’t you?

(yes I’m still plodding along with Grand Illusion, I’m hopeful to post a bit of an update on that soon)

    1. Thankyou so much, Karin. I can't claim the design as my own but I can't locate the original design to give proper credit. But I agree, the chain blocks just make it.

      Thanks again
