031 Garden Photos 19th August 2019

No words today, just a photo dump of my lovely garden taken when the almond was in blossom.  Such a lovely time of year.

Hope you're having an excellent day!

030 River View

It's back into the routine today, with both kids back at school and the husband back at work.  It's all been a big blur, our school holidays.  We get seven weeks, which includes Christmas and New Year's, and it just goes like greased lightening.

We had our lovely niece come and stay with us over the school holidays, and we got into the habit of taking a stroll after tea.  I took her to my favourite stretch of river that has a lovely walking path throughout, so took the opportunity to take some photos.

It's right in the middle of town, this stretch of road.  You can see how damaging a fire would be in here.  Right around the corner from houses.  There's a million different opinions about burning off (removing the undergrowth) or not and I'm not going to enter into that discussion but I'm grateful that so far we haven't been touched by fire too closely.  I'd be devastated to lose all this.

Hope your day is going well!  Talk soon!

029 What I Am Working On - Oh My Stars Green Part One

I showed you a few days ago my ongoing Oh My Stars in purple.

Never one to rest on my laurels, I also cut out a green version.

Not finished yet (obviously) but I'll show you more as I go.  It's such an easy quilt.  My plan is to make one a slight bit bigger, this one isn't just quite there as far as lap quilts go.  Great for kids, but then the design isn't very child friendly.  So I'm going to play a bit when I have a little free time, and see what I can come up with.  Shouldn't be too hard!

Have a lovely day, friends!

028 A Finish to show you - Water Lillies

You may remember my class with Rachelle Denenny where I worked on a wallhanging featuring lots of new (to me) techniques.

I'm pleased to say that three and a half years (how is it that long??) later, I have finished!

There's loads wrong with it, and I have since learned a better way to do machine quilting (at least a better way for me), but I'm pleased with how it worked.

I took that photo up against our cacky coloured pin up board at quilting.  Hence the yellow behind it.

Maybe that's a better one.

I even faced it myself, despite never having faced anything before.  Who knew it was so easy!

First day back at school for child one.  She's not overly enthusiastic.  Child two goes back tomorrow and whilst I always love having them home, the house is just beyond help and needs me to get back into some sort of a routine.  So that's my plan!

Hope your day is going well, talk soon!

027 Show Week 2019

Thought I'd give you a break from all the Lucy Boston blocks to show you an older photograph post I never shared at the time.

Each year my mother and I drive to the next town to be the judges for the local show.  Sadly, though each little town has had a show for many years, the Loxton show is the only one that is still running.
I've shown you the last few years of photos for the show, so I hope you enjoy these ones.

obligatory child hand featuring Henna tattoo (the only tattoo they are EVER allowed to get!).

My mother in law made the above picture, created with leftover, broken jewelry pieces.  And she won first prize too!

It's always a pleasure to take the drive over there and see how other towns are faring.  Hope you enjoyed it too!
