Nup. Still not loving it.
I seriously am contemplating not even putting those green checkerboards in. It does my head in that they don't line up with the chevron blocks. It must be something in me, I must need straight lines or something because I can't find a happy place with this quilt. It gives me a headache, literally. Too busy, too bright, not calm.
Sorry, Bonnie. Just not my style, this one.
Well we can't love them all. However the ones I've seen finished I've really liked. I too used pretty bright colors which really isn't my cup of tea but I will finish the quilt. I might use a different sashing too. I've seen a quilt someone made with all the sashing pieces that I liked too.

DeleteThanks for commenting! I think Bonnie does a wonderful job, keeping the thousands of followers happy - I guess its inevitable that she eventually will design something I'm not too keen on. But ironically, my daughter LOVES it so she'll end up with it and that makes me happy.
Thanks again
Suzie
I had not really noticed that the sashing greens were not the same size until you commented, and now that I see it, I possibly would not be able to handle it either. I do like the block itself though. I am working on designing mystery quilts at the moment, and I like things to be balanced and matchy matchy too!

DeleteYou'll have to send me the link when you get your mystery quilt going! I'm always game to try one more!

the fact that the sashing doesn't matchup is not a problem for me. the problem for me is the new color added to an already busy block. I saw on fb one person had light and dark neutrals alternating for the sashing. I think that I am going to do it that way.
ReplyDeleteHi Kay, thanks so much for your comment. I'm totally leaving the green out of my quilt, it just looks less berserk than with it in.
DeleteOh that non-matching sashing bothers me greatly! But the pieces were made and after much angst, I sewed them together. At least you've used a lot of calmer fabrics, I, on the other hand, used prints. Lots and lots of prints! As soon as I can steel myself to look at it again, I'll get a picture posted to my blog. Live and learn!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird isn't it, how it bothers us so much? I can't explain, I just can't deal with it!
DeleteAs I say, it's more about me than the design, I think.
