101 - A Finish To Show You

As promised, I've washed and blocked the rose tapestry I was working on.

My mother in law works at a local opportunity shop (thrift shop for those not in Australia) and she was given some half done tapestries.  She offered them to me and obviously I have too much free time because I said yes to them.

I wonder what their history was.  When I washed this one, the water ran so brown.  I rinsed and rinsed till it was clear and then laid it flat on a towel overnight.  I have a piano stool that is need of repair and I think when things get back to usual (normal?  Will that ever happen?) I'll use it as the top of that.

I'm plodding along today.  Again, a glorious day outside.  We are just about to head off on our nightly walk.

Hope you're well!

100 - and what a hundred days it was!

I've posted for 100 days straight.

And what a hundred days it was.

But we made it this far!  Hooray for us!

I've been stitching my tapestry today and I can now tell you I have finished!  But before I show it to you I need to wash it and block it, it's stretched beyond belief because I didn't use a frame.

So that's one UFO off the list!

It's Good Friday here tomorrow in Australia - there's a thought, is it Good Friday everywhere or just Australia?  Traditionally our region is INVADED by tourists camping by the river.  They (the Government) have spared no expense in telling people to 'Stay Away Please' - we are all crossing our fingers that common sense for the most part prevails, but I've heard many stories of people planning their annual trip regardless.  There's no cure for Stupid, unfortunately.

But I'll be staying home, doing the right thing.

Till tomorrow, my lovelies!

099 Oops almost forgot

I forgot to post!

It's a good thing it's still today because if it was tomorrow that would be bad!  That would break my streak!

I have no photos for you today but I urge you in the strongest possible terms, go outside and look at the moon!  We've just been for our daily (nightly) walk and the moon tonight is amazeballs, as the young ones say.  It's like God said 'look, I know you gotta stay home for a while but look up!'.

Things are plodding along here.  We have moved through the fear part, the adrenaline part, and now we are at the 'oh right, weeks more of this' part.  I'm trying very hard to keep the whole family 'up' when they need it.  Husband is fine, he's actually living his best life, gets me bringing all his coffees and meals to him while he works, like he's got an actual Personal Assistant.

The kids are struggling with not seeing their friends in real life.  Cyber only works so far.  But we walk each day and today we baked (badly) but we try and keep their spirits up too.

Hope your spirits are up today.

098 Show And Tell

I know it's Easter, not Christmas but I found this set of photos and I thought it was worthy of a show to you.

It was from a magazine years ago and is only made by two fabrics, the background and the black.

Looks amazing when it's hanging on the wall.

Thanks for visiting with me, I haven't worked much today but I hope to get into it tomorrow.  Hope you're all doing okay.

097 Another Day Another Quilt

Hi lovely readers!

I can't seem to focus on one thing right now, so I'm jumping around between projects and trying not to feel guilty.  None of these projects are new ones, so at least I'm moving a few UFO's along.  But I don't enjoy being unsettled.

It's a glorious day outside and soon we are going for our daily walk around the fruit blocks.  I find we all need it for our mental health.  I do worry about the oldies who don't get their usual social fix, how do they cope?

A million years ago (a month - was it only a month?) I went on retreat and spent the whole day turning little bits of fabric over and gluing them.  Literally the whole day.  It was a UFO that was sitting there solely because it all seemed too much like hard work.  But I applied myself and did that, then the bag sat in the corner of the room until today.

I've been gluing them together with little dabs of Roxanne glue, using a toothpick because the stupid applicator is blocked (such a pain).  I've yet to apply them to the actual quilt, I am a little scared to if I am honest - but that will be tonight's work.

And then I was going to hand applique them but I'm thinking bugger it, maybe finished is better than half done.  We'll see.

Hope you're surviving, hope you're enjoying some part of this stupid topsy turvy world.

096 What day is it?

I'm joking.  But it's easy to forget, isn't it?

Australia's numbers are cause for 'cautious optimism'.  Though who really knows?  I guess we just keep doing what we are doing and it'll hopefully come good?  Maybe?

I stitched a few more blocks of my scrappy stars.

It's weird really.  I have all the time in the world to sew right now and I haven't got a bit of sewing mojo.

Hoping I get it back, I'd hate to squander this time.  It's got to be good for something.

095 Lucy Boston

Sick of these yet?  I'm not.

So few to go now!  Then on to the big, boring bits!!

094 show and tell purple pink table runner

Back when the world was normal, I took some photos of old projects in the cupboard.  This is one of them:

A table runner designed for a beginner's class.  It worked out quite nicely really, but I don't use table runners anymore.

Maybe I'll donate it.  I don't know.

Happy sewing!

093 Mystery Quilt Step Two

So I'm making a mystery quilt, as you know.  Step two has been done and dusted.

I keep squawking (my brain is officially turning to mush, I could NOT remember how to spell that word!) at my youngest daughter for her messy workspace during this homeschooling lark.  My work space is revolting right now.  I can hardly talk.

Have a lovely day!

092 Lucy Boston Update

It's so soothing to sit and stitch a Lucy block at times like these.

It's raining outside, completely unexpectedly because the Bureau of Meteorology website that would normally tell us these things has been broken for days, with no one to fix it I assume.  What a lovely of surprises.  And it's soft and slow and all day long, which is so much better than the fast, flooding rains we've been used to.

That's my silver lining for today.  What's yours?
